由gmp·冯·格康，玛格及合伙人建筑师事务所与同济大学建筑设计研究院（TJAD）共同设计的西安丝路国际展览中心项目（一期）即将竣工。展览中心坐落于西安市东北部的灞河右岸，位于浐灞生态区欧亚经济综合园区核心区，与同为gmp设计的国际会议中心一起组成了会展中心建筑群。集文化、商贸、科技功能为一身，可举行峰会、展览、交流、交易的大型会展中心，是西安城市开发建设中的关键项目，也是浐灞生态区的核心项目。

展览中心位于灞河之滨，毗邻前世博园区，地理位置优越，地上建筑面积约为16.4万平方米。西侧的展览中心包含轴线两侧共十二个展厅，入口大厅位于轴线南北两侧，东侧的会议中心为一座轻盈优雅的方正布局建筑，兼具会议功能与轻质展览空间。

展览中心的建筑序列沿一条绿化轴线展开，轴线南北两端设有两座大型入口建筑，其前方是宽阔的公共广场，长达900多米的轴线两侧将布置十二个展厅。即将竣工的展览中心一期工程，包括了南侧登录大厅及6个展厅（2个展厅及多功能厅、4个标准展厅）。

为满足现代和未来展会的多种展厅规模，基于灵活性的考虑设计了不同的展厅类型。其中，标准展厅面积约10000平方米，净高13米，可根据需要分隔为两个单元；南侧入口的两个超大展厅净高为16米，面积超过16000平方米，也可以举办大型活动。

各个展厅的展览区域均采用无柱设计，保证了最大的使用灵活性。空调机房等设备间均集中设在展厅南北两侧两层通高的厚重体量中。每个展厅都设有多个大门供货车驶入，便于将货物直接运送至展台。

会展中心的建筑设计，以现代的建筑语汇诠释并回应了西安古城墙及城市肌理，具有很高辨识度。展厅外立面采用天然石材，具有一定倾斜度的石质墙体采用了西安古城墙的形式语言。与坚固的基座相对应的，是轻巧的流线型屋顶设计，起伏层叠的曲线屋顶，唤起对丝绸之路上流动沙丘的遥远记忆。登录厅建筑突出于展厅建筑之上，气势非凡。超高的大门再现了城门这一文化符号。立面采用通透的玻璃幕墙，使来访者从远处即可定位入口。错叠的屋面逐渐出挑，由室内延伸至室外，由巨大的十字柱支撑。十字柱呈锥形，向顶部逐渐变细。

展会观众将穿过开阔的广场进入突出于展厅平面的门厅空间，经过售票处及安检后进入会展中心内部，经由登陆厅进入各个展厅。两个入口大厅之间设置两条平行延伸的双层长廊，其两侧设有商业、餐饮、会议室等辅助功能。上层通廊跨越一二期工程之间的道路，来访者可以不受天气影响到达会展中心的各个部分。
